Hey, great to meet you at IT Nation

I'm the MSP Finance Guy (with the fidget spinners).

Here's a couple of free things:

You don't know me yet, so let's start with stuff you can actually use. One's ready to grab now, the other is close. What I do for a living is further down.

Freebie #1:

Type/SubType/Item lists, plus the importer

A ready-to-use ticket categorisation structure for your service boards - Types, SubTypes and Items - so your ticket data tells you something. Plus the tool I wrote that imports them into ConnectWise PSA via the API, instead of you typing them in...

One. By. One. (Ugh).

No email required - click through to download the XLSX, and get the GitHub repo link.

Freebie #2:

Burdened labour rate calculator

Work out what your techs actually cost per hour - wages plus the main staffing on-costs most MSPs forget. Load the wrong member costs into ConnectWise PSA? Then the Financial Dashboard, agreement profitability and SLI profitability reporting - it's all fiction.

Still polishing this one, but it's close! Leave your email and I'll send the link the day it's live.

What I actually do

I'm the MSP Finance Guy. I help MSP owners work out which clients are actually profitable, fix the gap between their PSA and their accounting system, and stop leaving money on the table at invoicing time or when contracts are up for renegotiation.

I've been in the MSP space for over 21 years. I've run one, worked in a few, and consulted to a lot of them. I know the juggle - client demands, internal processes that nobody ever wrote down, the constant pressure to keep every plate spinning, and that lingering feeling that something's falling over while you're fighting the next fire.

Quote to cash is where most MSPs leak money and make bad decisions. The quoting tool, PSA and the accounting system don't all line up, and the reporting layer is fragmented and incomplete. Flow Foundry fixes that end of the business: the billing and integration work that should run quietly in the background but rarely does.

  • CPQ to PSA to accounting integrations. Primarily ConnectWise Manage and Sell into Xero or QuickBooks Online via Wise-Sync, with work across Autotask and Halo PSA environments as well. New setups, fixes, cleanups of inherited messes.
  • Chart of accounts redesigns aligned to SLI benchmarking, with proper revenue mapping from PSA through to the accounting system so the reports mean something.
  • Reporting rebuilds that give owners numbers they actually trust, fast enough to make decisions on.

Also on the list: SLIQ assessment, PSA and data migrations, automated payments and collections, pricing and packaging reviews.

Freebie #3:

Spend 15 mins fixing one of your problems

Bring one question. An agreement that won't reconcile, a P&L that tells you nothing, a "how do we get our team to track time" dilemma. I'll give you a straight answer and where to go next.

Not an MSP thing: I'm also building Be FOCUSful, for ADHD folks working in IT. Have a look if that's you.
